ROCKET MORTGAGE FIELD HOUSE

A recent modernization of the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse fueled the natural decision to renovate the corporate suites to match the energy of the team, their new fieldhouse, and the local culture. Initiating with substantial surveying and data collection, the space plan was developed to cater to the teams work needs, work flow, and style. The private offices were eliminated to increase the amount of collaborative and meetings spaces. This allowed the footprint to be used in a beneficial and economical way while catering to the needs of the team members.

The city of Cleveland guided the design narrative. The devotion to athleticism, urban architecture and skylines inspired physical representation of the concept of movement, and the use of local materials in the space. Wayfinding was supported and encouraged through curved ceiling clouds that guide the team members through the space and creating a sense of movement and rhythm in the space. Exposed beams and structural components are balanced by softened shapes and materials as a nod to Cleveland’s industrial history and landscape.

Custom collaborative meeting spaces were created and fabricated locally using steel framing, black metal mesh and tackable panels. Atmospheric tones of black, white, camel and maroon are featured throughout the space as a nod back to the teams branding colors.

Environmental graphics created by the team itself provide a backdrop supportive of the culture and comradely amongst the team. Stadium seating adjacent to the kitchen area allows large meetings and is reminiscent of the stadium seating atmosphere in the arena. The reception desk was created and inspired by the forms of structural industrial beams throughout the city. Illuminated diagonal forms and intersecting materials provide wayfinding for those approaching the space. Custom steel shelving ornamentation in the kitchen and trophy shelf area adds to the urban aesthetic. Neat stacked leather custom banquettes are seen throughout the seating and meeting spaces; a metaphor for the folded stacked uniforms of the team members.
