THE FARWELL

Nationally registered historic building becomes multi - family residential and commercial space.

The Farwell was completely renovated; the 1915 structure was turned into 82 luxury apartment units, as well as office and restaurant space. The main entrance bay of this steel-frame, eight-story rectangular building—located in the heart of Detroit’s Capitol Park Historic District—features decorative iron grillwork, including an arched window with scrollwork recreated from historic photographs. Best known for its Tiffany glass mosaic lobby ceiling, iconic open stair and central atrium, the interior has been fully rehabilitated and restored to its original grandeur. In addition to recreating the building’s magnificent cornice, the deteriorated rooftop skylight was replaced, and a new roof deck was added—featuring fantastic views of Detroit
